Diferenças UHMW e Duramaxx

What is the difference between tradicional UHMW and Duramaxx?

It is common for us to receive consumer doubts regarding the diferences between tradicional UHMW and Duramaxx, besides of questioning which one is most suitable for each need.
But before we answer this question, it is necessary to explain what is the material and which are the technical features of each of the products made available by Baron.

What is UHMW and what is it indicated for?

UHMW is the initials for Ultra High Molecular Weight. This material has characteristics that make it superior to other thermoplastics, such as high abrasion resistance, low friction coefficient, excellent chemical resistance, anti-adherence, high impact fracture resistance, among others.
In technical matters, UHMW has extremely long chains, with a molecular mass generally between 3.5 and 7.5 million. The simple structure of its molecule is still able to provide chemical and surface properties that are rare in high-performance polymers.

As for indication, UHMW plates can be used for different applications. The most common are silo linings, wear plates, bucket linings, sealing rings, sliding plates, among others.

Differences between tradicional UHMW and Duramaxx

Duramaxx is an exclusive line of high performance coatings made with UHMW certified resins, but with a molar mass higher than 8.0 million g/mol (traditional UHMW varies between 3.5 and 7.5 million).

The material has abrasion resistance properties far superior to the common UHMW on the market and is suitable for heavy industrial use, being used in chutes, silos, guides, spouts and mobile mining equipment.

About the difference between both materials, it is worth pointing out that there are 3 types of UHMW in the world, with High Range being the most resistant version of the material (learn more about this by clicking here)

Duramaxx is manufactured with 100% UHMW High Range resin and specially additive for maximum resistance to abrasion, having its lifespan doubled in relation to common UHMWs in the market.

Are we understood then? And if you have any further questions about choosing between conventional UHMW and Duramaxx, please contact our experts to further discuss your needs.
